DormUSA.com  started in 2005 originally as the CollegeCampusBookstore.com as a sales site to college students living in the dorms. The name was changed in 2006 to Dorm USA because it was easier to type (one reason why you should never have a long domain name). Sales began to boom because of the shortening of the domain name. Unfortunately, due to Washington State Law, sales tax had to be applied to all sales. So, the people in Illinois were being charged without sales tax and Washignton residents were being charged for the same amount. Much of the sales tax came out of the owner's pocket, which became very costly. In 2007, Dorm USA went through a format change due to the loss of large sums of money. This time , a way for college students to communicate with one another. This seems to hit it off great and now Dorm USA is more improved with its new Dorm USA Virtual Desktop product lined launched on January 2, 2008.
